New explosion panel with unique properties

A maintenance-free, vandalism-resistant explosion panel that opens at an opening pressure of 10 mbar and is easy to install in the facade? We started working on it and this is the result.

What do explosion panels or explosion hatches do?

Explosion panels (also called explosion shutters) are used in, among others, the food industry, defense, petrochemicals or by grid operators in the high-voltage network. They ensure that the pressure is removed in the event of an explosion due to gas, dust or chemical and electrical short circuit, because the panel opens in case of overpressure. After an explosion, the panel closes without falling apart. This greatly limits the damage to a building and the building can often be put back into use the next day.

The challenge

We now of course already have two explosion panels in our range: type P Explosion Wall double and type P Explosion Panel. However, these panels can only be installed when constructing a new space. The market is currently looking for explosion panels that can easily be installed in existing buildings. That was the challenge for us. Because how do you develop an explosion panel that is just as effective as the other panels and that is easy to install, without becoming susceptible to vandalism or burglary? There's work to be done!

From design to implementation

Starting at the drawing board, the new explosion hatch was slowly but surely created. A compact version this time, so that it can be easily placed on the facade by just drilling a round hole. The hatch can easily be mounted from the outside with special security screws. It is a solid, robust model that is maintenance-free due to the use of high-quality stainless steel (SS-316). In addition, the grid has been made mouse-resistant. And last but not least : we will have the new explosion hatch in stock in our webshop from next year. That means: ordered today, delivered tomorrow.
